Play Moore Music Festival
Raleigh, NC is the city that welcomed me and so many other creatives. Music has a way of uniting people and I wanted to create that energy for the place I call home. Moore Square was the perfect location for the event. The district includes East Hargett Street, once known as Raleigh's "Black Main Street", because it once contained the largest number of businesses owned by African-Americans in the city. I named the festival, created the branding, and booked the talent for the big day.
I was honored to receive the Fred Fletcher Outstanding Volunteer Award Recipients 2020 for the festival. Here are some kind words:
Mr. Napoleon Wright approached the Moore Square event manager with the idea for a hip-hop music block party in the heart of downtown. With his creativity and tenacity, Play Moore Music Festival became a reality. He works with a variety of media types such as illustration and music production. His passion lies in supporting others with their creative needs.
Mr. Wright attended multiple planning meetings to offer his advice and support as well as to share contacts for this event. His understanding of Moore Square’s culture and the importance of that being represented in the programming helped the event planners create an authentic and unique experience.
At the Play Moore Music Festival, there were six DJ sets, break-dancers, live graffiti art, vinyl record art presented by CAM, and even more. Mr. Wright went above and beyond by giving a performance at no cost. The event had over 3,000 people in attendance. All of these elements would not have been as successful if not for the hard work and support of Mr. Wright.
